Carl Edwards to Start 2007 Off With a Triple Header

As if running a full-time schedule in 2007 in both the Nextel Cup and Busch series isn’t a full enough plate for Carl Edwards, he’s also now planning to start in the Craftsman Truck Series season opener next month at Daytona International Speedway.

The 2005 Nextel runner-up, Edwards will run a handful of NCTS races in the upcoming 2007 season. He will share driver duties of the Roush Racing No. 50 Ford F-150 with Peter Shepherd.

“To be able to help Peter Shepherd is awesome,” Edwards said. “He drove a Silver Crown car for me last year and did a good job. I’m really looking forward to racing with him this year.”

Far be it from me to criticize drivers for simply wanting to get into a vehicle, of any sorts, and go faster than anyone else, but ol’ Carl might want to focus on getting back to the front of the pack in NASCAR on a consistent basis again.

Last year wasn’t exactly his best effort, especially the manner in which he fizzled after getting off to a hot start in the first one-third of the season.
