BAM Racing is back for the 2007 season, with Mike Bliss slotted to drive their #49 car. 2006 was a pretty turbulent year for the team, which started out with Brent Sherman in the driver’s seat, then Jimmy Spencer, then Mike Wallace, then Kevin Lepage, and finally Mike Bliss taking over for the tail end of the season. (Except for the road races, where Chris Cook attempted to qualify but failed both times).

What to expect in 2007? Well, honestly, probably not much. Bliss’s best finish in the 6 races he ran for the team in 2006 was 23rd, and he didn’t finish half of his starts. If they stick with Bliss and let him run the entire season, you’d have to think they’ll improve on 2006, but it remains to be seen if the team can consistently scrape up enough sponsor money to do that. If they’re going to consistently rotate in any driver that brings sponsor dollars, well, they’re pretty much going to be doomed to inconsistent results.

The team did notch three top 10 finishes with Ken Schrader running the full slate of races in 2005, so it’s not like BAM Racing has no idea what it’s doing in NASCAR. They’re simply struggling with the issues that any team with limited funds and a single car struggle with, which is landing stable sponsorships that they can count on, year after year, without constantly scrambling their lineup.
