NASCAR’s Prayer: Dear Lord Wee Baby Jesus Baby, Please Let The Auto Club 500 at California Speedway Be the Most Boring, Uneventful Race Ever
February 19, 2007 | 1 Comment
Lots of people weighing in on the controversial Daytona finish, which, like the entire week, was a mixed blessing for NASCAR. Lots of excitement counterbalanced with lots of controversy.
This one really was a no-win situation for NASCAR officials, as far as whether to throw the yellow or not. If they do throw the yellow, everyone […]

To Yellow or Not to Yellow
February 19, 2007 | 1 Comment
I’m not the only one confused by NASCAR’s constant inconsistency. Racing guru David Poole agrees with VroomChick:
What’s a flagman to do?
Should the caution have come out on the final lap? NASCAR was in an impossible spot.
Throw the caution and people would scream, and you’d also have the issue of deciding who was ahead of […]

Kevin Harvick Wins Orbitz 300 at Daytona
February 18, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Kevin Harvick doesn’t seem to have cooled off from his strong finish to the 2006 season, winning the first Busch race of the year at Daytona, the Orbitz 300. Harvick started 31st but steadily made his way to the front, leading the last 43 laps and beating Dave Blaney by three car lengths.
Blaney’s strong showing […]

Your 2007 Daytona Champion?

Kevin Harvick.
Not exactly going out on a limb here, but give me some credit for not picking Tony, as the bulk of the masses are (and for good reason). I’d like to go with my heart and pick Junior but for whatever reason I think Happy is going to take the victory today.
Other random prognostications, […]

The Winners
Tony Stewart: Smoke is looking pretty dang fast and motivated so far, winning both the Shootout and his Gatorade Duel. If he can dodge trouble […]

Michael Waltrip: Lightning Rod for Controversy or Just Really Tall Man?
February 15, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Even I am starting to feel a bit bad for Michael Waltrip, as he’s suddenly developing a knack for putting himself in no-win situations.
The good news is that on Thursday he raced his way into the Daytona 500, finishing eighth; the bad news is many people believe he shouldn’t have even been on the track […]

That’ll Be 100 Points Mr. Waltrip, Thank You Very Much
February 14, 2007 | 3 Comments
Michael Waltrip joined all the bad kids in detention today, with NASCAR suspending his crew chief and team director indefinitely and docking the driver 100 points before the season has even begun.
“We’ve got people’s attention now,’’ NASCAR competition director Robin Pemberton said Wednesday.
Waltrip, a two-time Daytona winner, lost his crew chief and team director right […]

NASCAR Drops the Hammer on “Cheaters” at Daytona 500
February 13, 2007 | 1 Comment
NASCAR seems to be growing a bit of a spine when it comes to punishing teams when rule infractions are found, as the penalties just doled out for various trangressions at this years Daytone 500 include:
Robbie Reiser, crew chief for Kenseth, and Kenny Francis, crew chief for Kahne, were kicked out of Daytona International Speedway […]

Huddle House to Sponsor Bill Elliott at Daytona 500
February 13, 2007 | 1 Comment
While Awesome Bill from Dawsonville had been circling the track so far with a pristine, unblemished hood, Huddle House has stepped up to be the primary sponsor of the #37 at Daytona:
Huddle House, a 420-unit nationwide family restaurant franchise with deep ties to the South, along with Front Row Motorsports have announced a partnership for […]

Things at Daytona Rev Up in a Hurry
February 12, 2007 | 2 Comments
It didn’t take too long at all for things to get awfully interesting at Daytona after the first day of qualifying on Sunday.
Robert Yates has to be doing backflips of joy (carefully and gingerly, of course) after David Gilliland grabbed the pole for the Daytona 500, with Ricky Rudd right behind him. It’s not a […]
